New Hartford, NY — What looked like a typical stolen vehicle call Thursday night quickly turned into something a whole lot bigger.

According to the New Hartford Police Department, officers were dispatched to Chestnut Road after a report of a stolen vehicle. But once they started digging into the situation, things didn’t quite add up.

Police say their investigation led them to identify the reporting party as Tyrone Bailey, and that’s when the situation took a turn. Officers discovered Bailey had an active extraditable arrest warrant out of Bradford City, Pennsylvania, tied to a Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) case.

New Hartford Police reached out to Bradford City Police, who confirmed the warrant and provided the documentation needed to move forward.

From there, officers went straight to Bailey’s residence — where he was taken into custody without incident.

Bailey was transported to the New Hartford Police Department for processing on a Fugitive From Justice charge. After booking, he was turned over to the Oneida County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.

Authorities say Bailey is now being held in the Oneida County Jail, awaiting further court proceedings.

New Hartford Police confirmed they are continuing to coordinate with Pennsylvania authorities as the case moves forward.
