NEWPORT, NY β€” A Herkimer County man is now facing a list of charges after an investigation that State Police say involved serious allegations tied to the safety of a minor.

According to New York State Police, Mitchell A. Hoskey, 55, of Newport, was arrested Tuesday evening following an investigation that began earlier this month.

Troopers say Hoskey has been charged with:

  • Acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17
  • Menacing in the second degree (stalking-related)
  • Reckless endangerment in the second degree
  • Reckless driving

Authorities say the investigation started on April 12 in the town of Newport, though they have not released specific details about what led to the charges.

At this time, Hoskey has been issued an appearance ticket and is expected to answer the charges in court at a later date.

As of now, law enforcement has not provided additional details, and the case remains under investigation.
