MOHAWK, NY — A Mohawk man is now in custody following an arrest tied to a Herkimer County Court indictment, according to the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Scott F. Scherer announced that Jose M. Mont, 56, of Mohawk, was taken into custody on April 21st, 2026, by Sheriff’s Deputies.
Authorities say Mont was arrested after the Little Falls Police Department investigated the case and brought forward charges including:
- Criminal Sexual Act Against a Child in the First Degree (Class B Felony)
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A Misdemeanor)
Following his arrest, Mont was transported to Herkimer County Court for arraignment. After processing, he was remanded to the Herkimer County Correctional Facility.
Bail was set at:
- $30,000 cash, or
- $150,000 bond
