According to a statement from New York State Police, Troopers have confirmed they are actively investigating an incident shown in a video circulating from the Town of Newport.
The video, provided to TVOTT Hillbilly News by a local resident, appears to show a confrontation that reportedly took place near the corner of East Street and Norway Street at approximately 9:30 PM. The individual who recorded the video claims the situation began after a vehicle was allegedly speeding through the area.
At this time, law enforcement has not confirmed specific details regarding what occurred in the video, and the incident remains under investigation.
Official records do show a separate hit-and-run reported in the Town of Newport at approximately 1:13 AM (Incident #NY2600577273). However, State Police have stated they cannot confirm any connection between that incident and the video at this time.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding possible charges or whether any injuries were reported in connection to the video incident.
