According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Robert M. Maciol reported that a sixteen-year-old Boonville resident was taken into custody after multiple vehicles were allegedly stolen around 8:00 AM.

Officials say a Town of Boonville dump truck was first taken from DPW property on State Route 12. The vehicle was reportedly driven to Sudal Hill Road, where it became disabled.

Authorities state a second truck was then taken from a nearby property on Sudal Hill Road and driven to Potato Hill Road, where it was abandoned. A third truck was then allegedly stolen and later involved in a property damage motor vehicle crash.

The vehicle was ultimately stopped with assistance from New York State Police.

Due to the individual’s age, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Aid Unit took over the investigation.

The juvenile, whose identity has not been released, was charged with:

  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd Degree (Class D Felonies)
  • One count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree (Class E Felony)

Officials say the teen was arraigned at Oneida County CAP Court and released to a parent. A future court appearance is scheduled in Oneida County Youth Part on May 4, 2026.

LEGAL NOTE  All charges are allegations. The individual is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
