VERONA, NY — What started as a chaotic scanner alert turned into a scene that had folks stopping and staring along Patrick Rd.

Emergency crews were called out after reports came in of a vehicle in a pond in Verona. Early chatter had people thinking the worst — even talk of the car being flipped — but updated information paints a different picture.

When responders got there, they found a vehicle partially submerged in the water, not upside down as first reported. A person could be seen near the vehicle as crews worked the scene.

Here’s the part that matters most — the driver is okay.

No serious injuries have been confirmed at this time, which is about the best outcome you can hope for when a vehicle ends up in water.

Still, this ain’t your everyday fender bender.

What caused the vehicle to leave the roadway and end up in the pond is still under investigation, and that’s where the real questions start rolling in. Was it speed? A medical issue? Road conditions? Something else entirely?

Right now, officials haven’t released those details.

Scenes like this are a reminder real quick how fast things can go sideways out on these roads — one second you’re driving, next thing you’re in a situation you didn’t plan for.

TVOTT Hillbilly News will continue to follow this and update as more information comes out.
