NEW HARTFORD, NY β What started as a tense and confusing night across scanner channels quickly turned into a full-scale investigation outside the Town of New Hartford Municipal Offices.
Around 8:15 PM, emergency crews were dispatched after a 911 call reported a gunshot in the parking lot along Clinton Street. Initial scanner traffic painted a chaotic picture, with early reports describing a male suffering from a gunshot wound to the face and law enforcement rushing to the scene.
When officers from the New Hartford Police Department arrived, they located an adult male near a pickup truck in the public parking area. The scene was immediately secured as additional units responded and began checking for any other individuals who may have been involved.
According to police, no other subjects were found.
Investigators, along with evidence technicians and the Onondaga County Medical Examinerβs Office, processed the scene thoroughly. Authorities reviewed video footage, collected evidence, and conducted interviews with individuals in the area.
While the investigation is still active, officials say early findings point toward the incident being a suicide.
Police emphasized that this was an isolated situation and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. They also noted that, based on the information gathered so far, there is no indication that anyone else was in danger.
Out of respect for the individual and their family, officials say no further details will be released at this time.
Saturday nightβs response drew attention across the Mohawk Valley, especially as scanner alerts spread quickly online. Situations like this are a reminder that early information can often be incomplete, and the full story takes time to come together.
