ROME, NY — A quiet early morning in Rome turned into an active police investigation after officers were dispatched to the 400 block of West Court Street around 12:07 AM on March 31, 2026.
According to the Rome Police Department, officers responded to reports of a male in distress. Upon arrival, they located a 34-year-old man inside a residence suffering from injuries to his head and torso.
Authorities say the injuries appear consistent with those caused by a sharp-edged object.
The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital by Am Care Ambulance for emergency evaluation and treatment. At this time, his condition has not been publicly released.
The Rome Police Detective Division has taken over the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Officials are urging anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious or who has information related to the incident to step forward.
