ROME, NY β What started as a deep investigation out of New York City ended right here in Rome, and itβs the kind of case that makes your stomach turn.
According to the Rome Police Department, a coordinated effort between local, state, and New York City investigators led to the arrest of two individuals tied to a serious human trafficking case.
39-year-old Deanna Disatro of Rome and 38-year-old Gilliam Cordero of New York City were taken into custody Tuesday without incident.
Authorities say the arrests stem from an investigation involving the NYPD Human Trafficking Unit, the Manhattan Warrant Squad, and multiple New York State and Oneida County agencies.
Disatro and Cordero are now facing charges including:
- Sex Trafficking of a Child
- Robbery in the First Degree
- Promoting Prostitution in the Third Degree
Let that sink in for a second β this wasnβt small-time stuff.
Investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on South James Street in Rome, where they reportedly seized electronic devices, firearms, and a quantity of unidentified pills.
Both suspects were transported to Manhattan for arraignment in New York State Supreme Court.
Cordero was remanded without bail. Disatro was hit with a $500,000 cash bail, $750,000 bond, and a partially secured $1 million bond.
And hereβs the part folks need to understand β this investigation is still active.
Police say additional charges may be coming.
That means what weβre hearing now might only be part of the story.
This situation highlights something people donβt like to talk about β crimes like this donβt just stay in big cities. They spill into smaller communities too.
And Rome just got pulled right into the middle of it.
