UTICA, NY — What started as a quiet early morning turned into something a whole lot more serious on Seymour Avenue.
Around 2:25 AM, Utica Police were dispatched to the 1500 block after a ShotSpotter alert picked up multiple rounds being fired. When officers arrived, they didn’t just find noise or nothing — they found five spent shell casings and something worse.
Bullets had gone into a home.
Not down the street. Not into the air. Into someone’s house.
And that’s the part that should make everyone stop and think for a second.
Police say no one inside was hurt, and honestly, that’s nothing short of luck. Because when bullets start flying into homes, it’s not just “another call” anymore — that’s lives on the line.
The Utica Police Department’s GIVE Unit has taken over the investigation, and they’re now working to figure out exactly who was responsible and why this happened.
As of now, no suspects have been publicly identified.
Neighbors in the area were left shaken, and for good reason. This isn’t something you expect to wake up to in your own neighborhood.
Police are asking anyone with information to come forward. You can contact Utica Police directly at (315) 223-3510 or submit an anonymous tip through Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers.
Right now, this is still unfolding. But one thing is clear — this wasn’t random noise, and it wasn’t nothing.
This hit close to home. Literally.
